This article was obviously unnecessary to anyone -- except those whose brains have been cooked by Twitter's algorithm.

What bothers me is that I haven’t seen any reporting on actual discoveries of human remains at any of these sites.

I think that the residential schools were a shameful part of white Canadian society’s desire to wipe out indigenous peoples. There is no doubt about that. But after more than five years why have we not seen even a partial exploration of the sites? If there are remains, let’s at least get them back to their communities.

Meanwhile, one of the places in Ontario (Grassy Narrows) has lost its funding after receiving more than 3 million, because they have not provided any audited financial statements for how the money was used so far.

The best way to combat denialism is to provide the proof of these claims. I want a complete reckoning of everything that was done, and how the native pupils suffered, so that it can never again be denied.

What an obvious attempt at feigning ignorance while pushing genocide denial.

For those who may not have clicked on the link

There are several instances of remains that have been found through excavations at former residential school sites. A site near Regina, Sask. found evidence of roughly 600 graves using ground-penetrating radar. A fragment of a child’s jawbone was found at a site in Saskatchewan. Ground-penetrating radar found evidence of 215 unmarked graves at a site in BC. Child-sized skeletal human remains have been accidentally excavated over several years at a site in Alberta, buried without caskets. The remains of a child under five were found at a former school near Edmonton. Three unmarked grave sites were found at a site in Manitoba. A further 158 potential gravesites were found in British Columbia.

It’s cruel and completely false to suggest that the claims of human remains have been “disproven.” That’s simply not the case, and it’s revisionist history to suggest otherwise.

So have the ground penetrating radar been proven to be graves. Cause that is what happened last time oh we found graves and they where not. And did you even read your own stories one they claimed remains then downgraded it to potential grave sites. And way to link spam a lot of your links are the same story for the potential graves. Which since it was the big storey I think needed up being rocks.

That’s exactly what I mean. I remember reading that article. Remains of children have been found on residential school sites, but it doesn’t appear that those were related to the potential graves reported by ground penetrating radar.

ground radar studies are unable to definitively establish if what they are reporting is human remains

What is stopping investigations from actually determining if these are graves, and if so exhuming them and returning them to their communities?
