I think if you’re going to run a Kickstarter (other crowdfunding platforms are available) then you need to be ready to go. Have production partners on the phone, designs done, prototypes in hand, and a solid plan to get your items in the hands of your backers.
I don’t disagree that it’s hard work, but I do think you need to be fully aware and ready for how hard it’s gonna be before starting a campaign.
Thats revisionist history to how Kickstarters were though.
Nowadays it is used as a gauge of first wave production numbers but it used to be the funds to help you kickstart your idea into reality. And their reality was not streamlined for it.
It is different now.
