It was and still is the most obvious conclusion of this struggle. He’s a person who hates free trade, and it’s a free trade agreement.

The game for our federal government has basically been to trick him into signing on anyway, or at least delay him leaving.

It was NAFTA then he cancelled that and created a new agreement in his first term, now he doesn’t like his own deal. This guy is literally the worst

He doesn’t hate free trade, he believes in nothing. Bannon saw how to win and he made it happen. The neo liberals abandoned labor for the oligarchs and embraced unfair trade with low wage countries to underpay workers and dump pollution, build cheap and sell high.

The president did an end run around the neo liberals on the left, and that’s how he won. Get your heads out of the ass of wall street or continue to enjoy fascists calling the shots. First in the US, it’s spreading, you aren’t special either.

And we need to steel ourselves for the “CARNEY DID IT - TINY PP WOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT HOME NOW WE CAN’T HAVE KRISPY KREME AND CHICK-FIL-A …” - I think people don’t fully appreciate that the only way to divest ourselves from Trump’s insanity and vagaries w.r.t. oh anything is to make new friends, new alliances, and accept the extreme difficulty that comes with that which means Depression-era relief and strong investment in other partners and no, this won’t bear fruit in one election cycle or even one quarter, not even in one year. In today’s misinformation hellhole people literally hang on to every even vague word and go into a rage if their cable bill isn’t lowered. There’s no easy way to do this.

You do realize that 75% of our exports go to the US. You can’t just do a 180 and replace that - it will take years and throw Canada into a recession. This isn’t about your disney bill, this is about 10’s of thousands of jobs.

Then we need to plan for a renovation of our job system. We can’t support human rights and fair trade for the only reason of people will lose their job?

Then we need to making losing your job not cause a recession. Provide all Canadians food shelter and clothing. At the cost of taxes on every dime made by any business in Canada as well as international trade on natural resources removed from Canada.

This would hurt for a while but Canada would be a super power if all of us only worked because we wanted to.

Think about how much it would actually cost to employ someone as a small business owner/new entrepreneur etc if the the wages offered not needed to consider cost of living and only for excess and entertainment.

We saw from CERB and other programs how beneficial people having money to spend is. It’s so dumb that the powers that be are so blind.

Yes it will take time pain and numerous renditions to get this new way of living working and there will be a period of adjustment.

But there will be no incentive to sell your body in sex work just to survive.

There will be no reason to stay in an abusive relationship if you can afford to live on your own just because you want to.

It will provide an opportunity for people to move literally anywhere they want in Canada and just live there, spending money in those communities.

Those communities can grow and spend their time and effort on building a better place to live, instead of just figuring out how to help people survive

Arts culture education research all of these things will benefit from a glut of people who just want to be there and not because they feel forced to be there.

I’ll lead this thing if you need me to, I would do it if no one else can see my vision, but I absolutely don’t give a shit about any established business that might go kaput as we transition
