I love it when they add Fucking AI to background processes on my work box. They put it in the damn spell check last time, tell me that’s not logging all your input -_-
I become even more glad and grateful of Linux with each passing day!
Fuck I’m glad for making the jump to 100% Linux. This is straight bullshit.
LOL, the debloating lasted what… less than a week? They are way beyond any chance of redemption
I use Arch btw

That’s what the average Gentoo user looks like after staying inside for two months installing, setting up and troubleshooting their system. Had it once, maybe a bit over 20 years ago. I respect those who love it, but it wasn’t for me.
After the AUR debacle, I’m considering it.
Just don’t download anything stupid from AUR. Verify your getting the correct, supported packages, and you should be fine.
Compile your malware from source, like a real engineer!
I think I escaped it because I use Garuda. They have their own copy called Chaotic-Aur where they prebuild and scan stuff. Between that layer, and me being slow to update, according to the scan, I avoided it. The packages that were infected that I had installed were older copies from before the infection.
I’ve always been tempted
I feel sorry for anyone stuck on a Windows system for work. Pouring one out for your system resources.
Last week I almost missed my train because of windows update.
Every day my hatred for Windows, well Microsoft as a whole really, grows. Every time I launch the almost incomprehensibly bad piece of shit that is Outlook, every time I have to restart explorer.exe because of some dumb bug that I remember from Windows 7, every time I try to mount a network share that has the same hostname as an already mounted one, every time the start bar launches Edge (not my default browser) to look something up on Bing (not my default search engine) despite my having turned that feature off, every time I have to dive into some settings to disable yet another copilot button, my desire to break into Satya Nutella’s home when he’s on vacation and spill old milk all over his furniture increases by a noticeable degree.
Due to work security policies, using remote VMs, I’m technically using like 3 windows systems at the same time for work every day 💀
I bump the stupid copilot key far too often, but since it’s not installed it just brings up a window going “uh… you need to update copilot or something idk”
I appreciate that, thanks.
microshit is also forcing yet another price increase for all 365 garbage on July 1st too… reason, ai dogshit. they are losing money so they gotta jack everyone’s monthly/yearly costs. glad I will never pay for this shit lol
Anyone have a link to a guide on how to remove Copilot as much as you can? It keeps showing up on my computer at work and I’m so sick of it.
Installing Mint did the trick for me!
I would but it’s a work computer and it’s out of my hands. I’ve already tried running mint on one of them and about 70% of the software we use doesn’t even remotely work.
Depends on when. There are config scripts to use during installation that let you pick what you want. After installation use Windows Shutup by O&O software. I can’t vouch for it being 100% effective but it appears to do the job.
I just moved to macOS
Solution: give everyone the option, via command-line, to enable enterprise data protection.
I opened Copilot at work, saw a green shield, and clicked on it. Enterprise data protection may solve some issues some of you have with Copilot. Not all. For one, it won’t use what you ask to train it. It encrypts the data. It does tell you IT can log your queries. It also mentions it censors results. I don’t like Copilot, but sometimes, it can be useful, in the way that sometimes, Word can do something Pages doesn’t do well. The rift is wider between Excel and Numbers, but I’m an Excel guy. I won’t make the obvious pun. I really do like Word and Excel, but when the price literally doubled and there was nothing I could do (apparently some people were offered a classic version — not me), I just canceled. I was fine paying them $50 or $60 a year for Microsoft 365, even after switching to a Mac, even though Mac never got Publisher (which I also enjoy using). I wasn’t good with $100 a year. So now I just use iWork for free, and I have the benefit of saying my computer does not run any Microsoft software. Or Google, for that matter, though I do use some of their web services.
In an ideal world, macOS or Linux would be the dominant OS. In an ideal world, Amiga woulda never stopped being a thing. (I know it’s still a thing, but really… no it’s not.) It would be Macs and Amigas for regular users and Linux for server admins and uber nerds. (Not that you have to be an uber nerd or even a nerd to use Linux in our world.) That Windows has such a stranglehold is all the more reason to get the hell away from it. Especially with Proton on Linux making gaming more accessible than ever before.
it’s been dogshit, wrong and slow as fuck everytime I’ve attempted to use it for work. I refuse to use it. I’m quicker then that pile of trash.
