Hosting house parties requires both planning parties, and having a party in your house. Malcolm could be tired of hosting parties because he wants to go home to the peace and quiet and read a nice book with a glass of wine and his husband’s company.

It’s implied that the second gnome is Malcom’s partner and they presumably live together.
So imagine telling your SO that you’re tired of parties and they throw you a party in the home you share to ostensibly help you unwind.
