The green represents the need for ecological revolution, whilst the black is a nod to the original black anarchist flag. The blood red snowflake represents how the environment is dying from eco-fascism.

You could try making pixel-art maps in Pixelorama, since that’s usually easier than doing high-res art at first.
But if you’d prefer to do higher res stuff, Krita is an excellent free drawing/painting app, and Inkscape is great for using Vectors instead.
