Edit: For context, @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com discovered that the developer of Tesseract had discretely banned numerous instances and disguised it as a server error. This included more heavily leftist instances, but also blahaj.zone. More recently, it was discovered that they had also been suppressing individual users, phrases, and communities that criticize power tripping on fedi.
Needless to say, I implore non blahaj.zone users to drop the Tesseract client (support for the client has already been dropped for blahaj). So called “liberals” like this who call out “extremism on both sides” are an insult to the values they claim to be upholding.

I shouldn’t engage but I can’t resist. The difference is thats what mods are for. They ban problematic users and there’s modlogs for transparency. There are power-tripping mods that are trigger happy with the ban, but it is up to them to do that.
Tesseract is an app which claims to access the fediverse. It doesn’t tell you what’s being censored or even that things are being censored. It presents them as technical issues. It’s not an apples to apples comparison.
Chill out. I just explained the most possible reason of why this dev has done it. Maybe my formulation wasn’t totally clear, but my point of view is valid. It is the other thing that this dev has created a literal malvare to state his opinions about some communities and users. I don’t say that I support this dev, but I can understand the motivation to do so.
Oh the poor new idiots arriving on Lemmy only to be assaulted by the alphabet. If only somebody would explain to us why glass jaw bitchless manchilds would be so fragile and bitchless. Where on the internet is safe? Surely it must be here
Nowhere is safe. But here more possibilities to do what you want exist.
