Have you seen a cargo ship though, the train car comtainers on it look tiny, and are stacked above deck like a tower and below decks. Sometimes as much as 10000 to 20000 containers, All going one place.
Trains are 100 containers long maybe, I think it is only 50 in Europe. And have to switch routes to get across the network, and makes delayed stops in trainyards for connection changes .
They just don’t have the same bandwidth as a giant ship.
Isn’t this also to do with how massive a ship is, so shipping is cheap per container?
The solution? Bigger trains, obviously.
