Human euthanasia should be legalized and normalized, both medically assisted suicide and euthanasia when the person is suffering but unable to make decisions for themselves. If it’s an act of mercy to euthanize a pet who is suffering, then we should be able to have the same compassion for our fellow humans.

Most comments complaining about vibe-coding are just butt-hurt programmers who are annoyed that Joe Schmoe can produce a decent looking website in about 20 minutes without having had to waste their formative years nerding out on forums and chasing stray semicolons.
Every time someone on here says “hey, I made a cool (but harmless) interactive tool/map/website” the top comment is always “this looks vibecoded as hell” or “whats with claude.md, asshole?”. I’m all for the democratization of the economy so that social welfare, de-growth, environmental regulation and technological caution are rewarded instead of punished- including halting the datacenters and LLM proliferation for a few decades at least. But ya’ll sound like professional chefs complaining that the neighbour bought a microwave and a thermomix… or whining that they pimped out a cake mix instead of baking one from scratch. Just chill and maybe try to be helpful instead.
As a person who spent many years in the culinary arts field, I can assure you that most professional bakeries use the same mix you can buy at the store, just shipped in 50 pound bags. Can AI write code? Yes. In fact I’ll sometimes give it obtuse code I wrote and ask if there’s a way to simplify it, then use that as a jumping board on where I might want to head.
You know what else it does? Not understand context, or situations it hasn’t been made explicitly aware of.
I’ve given it plenty of things that it spit back just plainly incorrect or fundamentally altered code. Sometimes it’s just ignoring best security practices, sometimes it’s trying to use a string as an int, sometimes it just makes up “standard” functions that don’t actually exist because someone one said “wouldn’t it be nice is int.ThisFunctionName existed and did specific thing?”
Anyone shitting on AI for spitting out code is missing the point. Vibe coding is fine for personal projects that never get released to the world, but the moment you’re trying to build a business on top, or want to release it? Vibe coding is downright dangerous. There have been a number of vibe coded websites that were just sitting open for anyone to look at the personal information, because no one who knew what they were doing was involved.
The reason programmers are complaining is because the LLM stole our code to do so.

One unpopular opinion which is safe for me to share is that we should all own less pets, and need to cultivate much more green space in our cities if we want to have them.
- If you’re American in the suburbs, this would mean people should not have lawns, but fill em with plants or crops.
- where i live this would mean more pocket parks and room for wildlife to thrive. Which requires some houses and disused buildings going, or more roads closed up for pedestrianised greenspace.
One reason i believe this is because cats, for instance, slaughter loads of little creatures. Just imagine - if half the households on a street has their own pet cat, all the mice in the area are getting killed. They’re actually so much better st getting mice than rats, too, so it barely has that benefit. Rats are huge.
Another reason is because dogs … they should be working, and they should have access to interesting greenspace. Sorry if you have a dog and can’t provide this, i just think it’s so fucked up that we have more dogs in the world than we can actually take care of in this way. Would you force a human to live most of its life indoors with nothing to do? Dogs need more company than many people afford them - i remember reading that people returned their dogs after lockdown because they wouldn’t be able to take care of them when working full time, etc cetera.
So I would only have a dog if I had a big garden for it or a huge park nearby. I would ideally have some sort of role sharing with neighbours or friends where we both take the dog on walks. And, best case scenario, I would only have a dog to perform a specific task e.g on a farm.
Religion is for people who would rather be told what to do than figure life out themselves.
I always saw it as a crutch for those who can’t cope with the cruel harshities of life and need to affix meaning and reason to the randomness we live in.

In the context of Christianity, i don’t think you can say anyone is ordered around by religious leaders anymore - we live in a thoroughly secular society, and people know they can just walk away if they don’t like what a priest/pastor is saying (Or find a different one).

I’m going back to school as an elder millennial and my God, some of the craziness I’ve heard. A buddy teaches a film theory course a lot of kids use to satisfy early arts requirements at universities and he quickly realized if he didn’t show the movie in class, 2/3 of the class wouldn’t watch it despite being available through the school website. So, essentially, these kids (or their parents) are paying hundreds of dollars to watch movies instead of engaging.
The degree for which I’m going back recommends only 4 courses a tern with no work.I knew engineers who rocked 6 or 7, worked and were party animals.
Every advisor with whom I’ve spoke has basically said “look, if you’re going to treat it as an adult with adult work habits, you can handle 5 courses without trouble.” But they have all these disclaimers because kids and their parents go nuts when Johnny, who was just streaming hockey highlights all class somehow didn’t get a good grade.
This was the reason I left a career in academia and went back to engineering. The university enabled feckless plagiarising students and didn’t support the lecturers that upheld values. Okay then, good luck with your diploma mill bullshit, I’m going to literally double my wages and halve my stress by leaving.

As a late gen Z yep. I work in a school, and I feel like the course material has been chopped up and is being spoonfed now.
When I was there 10 years ago. (fuck) It was a unspoken rule that you had to learn to learn and quickly. If you did not well. Half our class dropped out.
However its also clear that schools are, in my country at least. A lot less likely to throw out students that probably should just find a profession rather than a higher degree.

Stop signs exist to compensate for blind spots. At some intersections, the angle and the speed limit line up such that a car will remain hidden in the front blind spot behind the roof support beam until it’s too late to avoid a crash. These intersections are rare, but they’re the only appropriate place to put stop signs. Most stop signs are put in due to poor traffic planning and political unwillingness to implement proper traffic calming, and do little to improve safety.
Motorcycles do not have roof support beams, do not have front blind spots, and thus have no use for stop signs. They shouldn’t be required to stop at stop signs.
It does make them special in one very important way: it’s much harder for police to catch them.
