First of all: there’s no context here; hell, we don’t even know if it was Rimu who removed those. There’s 6 admins on that instance.

And if someone argues that it’s still a shitty thing to do, I say: compile such lists from all fediverse instances and make an informed comparison. Let’s see if piefed.social doesn’t actually come out less shitty than some.
I’ve been half following this drama for a while now and so far I haven’t seen any proof that @Rimu is the evil overlord some folks make him out to be. Neither a model of integrity, I guess. One of his biggest flaws seems to be that he engages too much with this shit.
People just see an opening in someone “powerful” (original software developer) and … well, attack. “Speaking truth to power” they like to think, I guess.

I have a conspiracy theory that the modlog is made to suck on purpose. Why else do they mix good mod actions (featuring and unfeaturing posts) with bad ones (banned from community) or don’t have a filter by comm or a better user search or how mods can purge a user and it doesn’t make it into the log at all or how some instances have seemingly made theirs worse by removing the few options we have on that page.
