I go online as an escape from reality. So why the fuck would I hangout in a space where I’m surrounded by terrible views regarding women, race, gender, etc? We’re all in echo chambers. I don’t come here to debate some asshole that thinks climate change is a hoax and ICE is good.

Because this place is an echo chamber where critical thinking is questioned but simplistic memes are celebrated

How? Opening Jerboa now, I see I can block things like users, communities, and instances, but I don’t see a way to block a keyword.

A bunch of third-party apps have that feature, just not base Lemmy itself. Copying an old post of mine (which may be a bit outdated at this point):

Lemmy itself allows you to block communities, instances, and users. But it does not support filtering by keyword, e.g. filtering out any post with the word “platypus” in the title regardless of where it was posted or by whom. With help from the comments below, here are some third party Lemmy clients that have their own implementation of keyword filtering:

                • Boost
                • Connect
                • Eternity
                • Interstellar
                • Raccoon
                • Summit
                • Sync
                • Tesseract
                • Thunder
                • Voyager

                Do NOT support keyword filtering:

                • Alexandrite
                • Jerboa
                • Lemmy UI
                • mlmym
                • Next
                • Photon
                • Quiblr

Comment anything I have missed or mistakes I made

Imagine the trouble we could have avoided if our media would do the same…

I knew we were in trouble when troll posts were becoming nightly news. Now we have a demented pedophile troll as president. Yay…

Well it’s what the people want. If you can’t beat them, join them? Fuck taking the high road
