I used to be this girl and I still don’t really get why people post this… “gf who’s been horrifically abused starter pack”… trauma isn’t cute, it’s sad

This is the “inadequate gf starter pack” originally. This post is one that twists the self deprecation angle and tells users that they deserve to be loved. It does not fetishise trauma

Yeah this is my girlfriend and most days are a traumatic struggle. Her parents basically put on a master class of what not to do to a nuerodivergent kid.

yeah this is basically my wife. it started out cute at the beginning of our relationship but then we learned about the trauma. since then it has been a lot of hard work for both of us but that’s okay because I love her and she’s worth it. doesn’t matter if it’s sad instead of cute. traumatized people deserve to feel unconditional love too.

I knoooow! I’m right there with you. It’s a sucky feeling, and I’m sorry for you that it’s such a mood. I wish you so much success and good luck in finding and figuring out who you are! Here are some Internet hugs, if you want them 🫂

Oh, also, have this related meme that I saw and downloaded recently. That line in the post made it pop back into my head.

a meme of a frazzled kitten with a loading icon over it's head, with a caption that reads: "'So tell me more about yourself.' Me, trying to remember who I am:
