It’s common for laboratories to give them free samples, and they just distribute it. It’s more common with private doctors. In the public system, they will give you a prescription and depending on which meds, you can grab them for free in authorized pharmacies.
Americans: … wat?
In Germany, too, a lot of doctors (in the public system) regularly hand out samples they got from pharmaceutical companies. I’ve heard it’s the only reason for some doctors to meet representatives from such companies.
