Affinity is pretty good and free. Belongs to one of the pushers of shitty online templates these days, though.
Just a matter of time before it’s gone or enshittified, given its owner. Make sure to keep it backed up in a way that you can reinstall it without any server authentication, and I’d also freeze automatic updates/
I currently have it running in a Windows VM not connected to the Internet, so that should be fine. I also think that they are using it as a sales funnel towards their premium subscription, which of course might mean that more and more features get locked behind that.
Currently it’s just the AI Features and Templates, which doesn’t affect me as a user.
Companies can and do issue updates that bricks your device until you pay them, ie ransom. You’re at even greater risk with software.
