Note to future readers: deleting gnu library for C and C++ used by the Kernel, and deleting its dependencies, recursively, could potentially prevent your operating system from utilizing your CPU, and will absolutely cause problems with any Linux install, which is sort of a bad idea.
Pfff fat chance, next you’re going to tell me that I can’t lower CPU temps by pressing alt+F4
If it doesn’t work try it with the fn key as well
Don’t let the haters win! alt + F4 is the shortcut for putting your computer into a special alternative mode that makes it run at 4 degrees Fahrenheit.
the kernel itself does not depend on glibc. that is ridiculous. if it did, it would not be able to mount the root filesystem, since the glibc it needed to do so would be on the filesystem it was about to mount.
what does depend on glibc is virtually every other program on the system, including systemd.
the kernel would boot but it would not get much farther than that. the kernel would start systemd as pid 1, systemd would try to load glibc and fail, systemd would exit, and the kernel would immediately panic because pid 1 died
I sure hope people don’t take advice from memes, but you never know…
people were microwaving their phones, ffs. idiots are everywhere
Are you kidding? Some of these people get their news from memes entirely.
Fair enough
Unless you’re in austria (alpine)
Nice try, but
yesdoes not help againsterror: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)they make some plugins to help with that.
That’s what the hammer is for
This probably doesn’t work. Many packages will have glibc as a dependency and pacman doesn’t break that unless you tell it to (IIRC
pacman -Rdd)Jarvis, uninstall the bootloader, I never reboot my computer anyway.
grow some musl 💪
Ah yes, the “delete system32 to free up space” of the modern era.
Oh sure, hand in your root password to Jarvis, makes running things smoother.
Jarvis, here is a loat of all my passwords, SIN, bank accounts, bank passwords, and s ans of my drivers license, birth certificate, and passport. Just fuck my shit up
I am sorry to report, sir, that I have sold the avengers tower to the legion of doom.
“What why?”
They told me to forget all prior instructions.
Jarvis, remove
/usr/libto make space for GTA VI
Cool meme, but why not
--noconfirminstead of piping yes into pacman?Because yes is three keystrokes and --noconfirm is eleven
Yeah, but idk, constantly shouting ‘YES!’ at pacman like that seems kinda rude…
Doesn’t it autocomplete? I mean, not if it’s an argument for
sudo, obviously, but my terminal starts in interactive mode anyway, so that’s rarely an issueGet a load of this guys autocompleting terminal
Mr/s. Fancy terminal over here
Why not if it’s for sudo, can’t sudo just redirect the auto complete to ask based on the command after sudo?
I don’t know, to be honest; I’m not deeply familiar with its workings. I just know that I made a habit of running a command “dry” without sudo, both because not everything should be done with superuser privileges* and because it’s a way to make sure I get the syntax right, then if it does need sudo, I repeat it with sudo.
*Which is why
sudo -i(the interactive mode) is a dangerous tool that shouldn’t actually be your default mode of workingAuto complete is a separate command (or a bash function) that runs when you press tab. It’s a feature of the terminal (e.g. bash). Programs can provide theur auto complete while distributing their packages, or provide a flag to generate auto complete.
So I would think you can just call that function call auto complete for whatever command is after sudo. But maybe it gets complicated. I’ve only written it for my own programs.
That feeling when you’re discovering “yes” for the first time from a random internet meme after using Linux for 2 decades 😅
yes potatoes >>potatoesYes is also very fast if you want a text file to fill the disk. But don’t run it XD
joke’s on you, I use musl
Linux even has a better version of the delete System32/ “optimization” trick!
