Warranty? No what if I have to go somewhere with just the 6 year old GPU, I want to keep the formfitting box so it doesn’t get damaged. Have I ever gone somewhere with just the GPU? Once. But you never know if you need to do it again!

You don’t understand. On no less then two occasions in my life, I needed a nice sized cardboard box and had to make due with taping together scraps, like an animal

Now I have three nice intact big cardboard boxes. You want me to throw away such riches?

    Madness.

    False.

I move fairly frequently so they’re useful for that, and cardboard boxes + basic engineering knowledge = modular shelving.

I currently have a ~2ft x ~1ft x ~1ft box, filled with many old personal pizza boxes, for structural reinforcement.

Now I don’t need to crane my neck to look at my TV.

    Recycling.

I just got a new mouse and it came in one of those really sturdy boxes like a phone would come in. I literally put it next to the other boxes I’ve been hanging on to, just sitting on my dresser…

    YOU CAN’T MAKE ME

If you’re neurodivergent and also sell on eBay, you can justify a BoxLibrary and enter all of those nice FREE boxes into a self-hosted open source inventory management program that also lets you easily print qr code labels that you can tape to each flattened box (sorted by size, obviously) that you can easily scan to take that box out of inventory when you use it to ship stuff.

And then you can buy new boxes anyway because BoxLibrary is too far away (in the garage) because your partner didn’t want all of those lovely boxes in the house, but you can’t stop adding to it now, because it’s infrastructure and also, hey, that’s a nice box - I’m gonna keep that, because I might need it later.
