Couple of years ago I saw a video about Chris Chan, and when describing “Sonichu” they labeled it as “creative unoriginality”.

I often think of this term these days.

This (the dune ai thing) is unfortunately uncreative unoriginality, aka straight garbage trash slop.

Sonichu is at least “lol what if my psychotic delusions combined my two favorite characters and i married them” which is, at the very least, interesting. A lot of good and creative characters are just X+Y= new thing

Ehhh i disagree. Most outsider artists really care for and practice their craft to get better and perfecr their technique. The creater of sonichu (cant remember new name dont wanna deadname) doesnt to me seem particularly interested in advancing their craft. Sonichu as a project seems to me far more like an extended exercise in identity construction, and thus more analogous to psychotherapy than artcraft.

Ive never seen them create just for the sake of it. Every sonichu installment is made with express purpose.

Imo its pretty bad as an example of outsider art. But its very interesting thats for sure

Sonichu was creative compared to people using AI. At least Chris-chan drew it herself!
