Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, various nuts and other baked legumes are decent alternatives for chips.

There are all rice chips, root chips, pea chips, and so forth.

Nothing, however, can replace real chips…

Just be careful, because nuts are pretty calorie dense.

Popcorn is a good option for when your brain just wants to shovel food in your mouth.

pickles, cucumbers, carrots, peppers. nice and crunchy, basically zero cal, they take some time to eat (unlike nuts that you can pop by the handful).

but yeah for shovelling, dry popcorn is a good option

Yeah, I used to get nuts, but I go through them quickly, easily eating more calories at a faster rate than if I get grabbed some Cheetos^™.

Now, I air-pop my own popcorn. The additional effort is a helpful chance to ask myself if I really want to snack, and a full half cap of kernels (which is a lot of popped corn) and as much EVOO as I care to dose it with is still a lot fewer calories than I would get from nuts, and it takes longer to eat.

Very true. I was speaking for myself a bit. I can’t eat too many nuts, they hurt my stomach so u just use them to satiate the crunch craving on the go, during the week.

On a Friday night when ive got the munchies all bets are off. And popcorn is absolutely on my rotation of brain off snacking.
