My girl is ~20. Or at the very least, 20. She’s been doing well on her thyroid meds and solensia shot. So well in fact, she caught this toy mouse the other day and was screaming bloody murder to everyone. She wanted every one to know she’s still got it.
Then she promptly went to the very top of the cat tree where she mocked the 18 year old cat for not being able to get up there. (He’s next to get solensia shots). My little babies are getting old 😭😭 but they’re still so sweet.
Edit to add, it’s 6am. Just after I posted this she has found her mouse again and is carrying it around and screaming about it. 😂
Daww, she’s so pretty. She looks very well kept for 20 years old, you must put a lot of love into helping her clean.
Honestly? No. But I can tell you within 24 hours if she spit out her thyroid meds. She will start to mat a bit. If she’s off them multiple days she’s a greasy matted mess.
If she’s late for her pain shot, I will have to brush her under side and her hips because she struggles to clean them. If she’s fully medded, I do nothing. She’s sitting on her stool cleaning herself now actually lol.
Well she’s still gorgeous, and a cat doesn’t make it to 20 without someone looking out for them.
I think the logic behind my assessment is sound, but maybe a little off as far as the details.
Idk what I do with my animals but people are shocked when I told then my dog made it to 13 and that these two are ancient lol. Luck and love I guess.

Yes I think her vet will be very happy with her coat. We discovered she was spitting out her thyroid meds when my boyfriend wasn’t looking. We’ve solved that problem now and she’s gained some weight and she’s so freaking soft again.
And incredibly sassy like a typical calico/tortie but she’s also incredibly sweet.

Last July for Bo (the pug shaped ‘cat’ on the right) and May of this year for Buttons.
Both rescued at about 4 years old from a lifetime shelter, the two sweetest cats I’ve ever known. They made it to 17 and 18.
I bet they had a very lovely life with you ❤️

She still likes aggressive love in her old age 😂 although, less aggressive. I had a dog that passed a few years ago. Those two loved each other so much. She would do “little Kitty bites” where she would very gently nibble on Tigger and Tigger would scream then as soon as the dog stopped Tigger would look at her like “why did you stop?!” Sometimes Tigger would try to put herself in the dogs mouth if she wasn’t playing with her.
Our old lady just turned 20 as well. Hope your kitties have many more healthy years ahead of them.

Well please tell Tigger that this was noted, and two of my newest kittens (just 7 months and just back from the vet) took good notice of them and their mouse!
I told her earlier she was such a pretty baby that the internet loved her. I think all she understood was head scratches though 😂

Hooray for Tigger! Y’know even when Everything Is Awful™ , it’s good to think they’ve developed a drug that lets older cats enjoy things. I like that about us. Yes, all that other stuff BUT ALSO we made older cats feel pain-free and happy to play again.

I’ve only had old lady cats do this but all of mine have. Once they get to a certain age, they hunt a toy and crow about it at 100dB.

One of my girls is 5, and literally just did this.
My 4 year old does not do this, but she does run around the house at 3am doing her best Chuck Schuldiner impression.
