As someone who gets hard af headaches and migraine from processed and older foods, I’d say they are wrong. at least for me. No way I eat vegan when there are only 3 types of legumes that don’t give me a headache
I’m in the same boat, but with rampant inflammation from endometriosis in my bladder and bowels. I have so many food intolerances that meat is one of the safest things I can eat.
I hate the taste of meat. I hate the texture of meat. This isn’t for pleasure. I can’t eat potatoes or soy, but I love potatoes and soy. I just can’t eat it without pissing blood.
Vegans still still come and try to argue with me about this. They are massively ablest.
With just a little bit of common sense this wouldn’t be so hard to differentiate. Oats are processed, yes (take the grain, separate the husk, press it, pasteurize it, package it, etc.), but nobody will tell you its processed food, right?
Also isn’t transport a unit operation, wouldn’t make that anything that got moved in an industrial fashion processed? Get a life if that trips you up
Preach, I hate the label too…
People try so hard to make it useful but it’s just not… Plenty unprocessed foods will kill you and plenty processed foods are amazingly healthy.
Yea didn’t say that I eat processed meats or any form of cheese either, but I can eat fresh meat and fish, eggs and milk. I can also eat young legumes without getting headaches but I am in testing on that front.
Its not about processed but rather age of the product, anything that gets industrially processed (especially protein rich foods) is probably too old.
Edit: fixed typos and inserted missing words for clarity
Oh! Nice to learn about that!
I’ll keep an eye out, although using antihistamines is usually good to clear the headache, thiamine seems to act as an histamine release trigger, so it could be that as well…
The wikipedia page says that there is more and more attention given to the level of biogenic amines in food, so it’s a good news!
Insufferable fucks downvoting because muh-not-perfectly-reasoned. There are years of brain fog and migraine behind this statement from me. Just because you haven:'t heard anything about it doesn’t mean its not real. No I did not grow up with a lack of diversity, but I always had headaches so fuck you
What a false comparison - unprocessed meat vs processed non-meat. I’m sorry if your lack of food diversity growing up has made you sensitive to beans but you would certainly survive just fine as and when meat was not available. People can live off nothing but potatoes when necessary - ask the Irish. Though it’s also not good to rely on a single type of food - also ask the Irish.
It’s comfort convenience and pleasure. If you could moderate those things in the face of moral responsibility towards other animals then you would indeed stop eating meat. Though it’s a lot easier to pretend it’s not your choice isn’t it?
I should say I eat meat occasionally. And I use technology from companies destroying the world and buy products from companies owned by people I despise. I do not live up to my own ideal ethics and neither do 99% of humans who ever lived. Accepting moral truths does not require you to be morally perfect. It’s a direction to pull towards not a binary measurement of if you’re a valid person.

Your name is incredibly funny to me in that context. Anyways, stay strong and hopefully you find some nice recipe to make it a more pleasant journy!
Define “processed”? Because most forms of meat and pretty much all forms of dairy are processed…
Boiling a damn potato, without adding salt in the water or even peeling it, makes it processed already…

Ithink you’re the one lacking common sense - misusing words because of trends. :D

Yea that’s not what this comment is about but try again

Yeah, i found that out recently, it’s related to the level of histamine in the food.
It’s tyramine for me, but similar concept and similar foods

That is interesting to learn. Well as long as tomatos are fine for me I am gonna rule out histamine, but eggplants and broccoli that makes me go ouch
