    I get the impression that in a lot of countries, therapy is pretty hard to access, especially therapy that isn’t just “take these pills”.

        TBF, antidepressants really are trial and error. Plus they can have pretty severe side effects. Some antidepressant are literally prescribed as sleep aids …

          Yeah this is quite literally how I found the anti depression meds that actually worked for me. It took fucking years of trial and error but that’s the rub.

          Worse even, apparently some meds can stop working after the person tries other ones. At least, this happened for David Foster Wallace.

        When I went to the psychiatrist (it’s free in my country, psychologist isn’t), it was: “oh cool the pills worked, you can quit now.”. The vibe I felt in the air was like “yeah well you can cope, we’ve got to take care of those who are worse off, sry.”
