Prediction: in a decade or two, there will be people complaining about this guy going political when they realize he’s not being genuine here.

HOLE-YYYY SHIIIIIET! The same guy who just started putting out videos of him playing VERY well crafted songs with relevant lyrics just a year ago put out FOUR RECORDS AND IS NOMINATED FOR FOUR GRAMMYS?!?!?!

Serious fucking congrats to you, Jesse. Doing the Lord’s work and killing it. Amazing song choice for Colbert.

look man, he’s witty and trying to spread the good word, but folk music is hardly rocket surgery. If instead of shitposting, I turned them into poems and put them over a generic chord progression, I could record 10 albums

Yep, posting stupid comments on Lemmy is right up there with the greats who also wrote amazing and topical songs in their time and were well-regarded for it.

Two hours, is enough she says
Two hours is all you should get she said
Her feminine suggestion is there for your head
Two hours sleep is enough she said

Naikaku Sōri Daijin , hater of the gaijin
Keeps friends with bats and vampires
While she climbs the political spires,
Passes over gently, standing on spines

In the past many came with the voice
If only women were given the choice
And once they were on the ballot
              They came with the fallout

              Margaret Thatcher, notorious milk snatcher
Took down the entire north with her
Theresa um, ay, undecisive she May,
And the wilting cabbage, the muss of Truss

While I am sure that there are many women that Harden
The places they lead like Jacinda Arden
We haven’t had the chance to hear that adage come to pass
As they near the ceiling made of glass

In the past many came with the voice
If only women were given the choice
And once they were on the ballot
              They came with the fallout

Do you need me to record a generic chord progression too, or are you satisfied with this adaptation of a post about Naikaku Sōri Daijin ?

Source is from a comment on a post that was deleted about how the new female japanese PM gets by on 2 hours of sleep , and is yet another counterexample to “If women were in charge, everything would be handled so much better and with kindness” which has many more counterexamples than examples now that we’ve had some female world leaders.

              https://lemmy.world/post/38783352/20491356

The world would be so much better with women in charge.

The women in charge we end up with :

(nb : I’m not saying women are incapable of power, just that assuming women would be great leaders is a stupid idea. There are examples of great/not horrid female leaders like Jacinda Ardern, but thatcher, this woman, Kirchner, theresa may, the lettuce woman are all terrible)

PS: I’m not exactly Zeal & Ardor , so obviously this process was not as fun for me as it would be for Jesse Welles, I also spent about 10 mins to prove a point.

Example of Zeal & Ardor’s mix of black metal and slave work songs : https://youtu.be/ZnW6DA_354c

My favorite people are the ones who kick down other people’s accomplishments while simultaneously being too cool to do it themselves. Real pillars of the community, yknow? :^)

I am pointing out that there are ways to be productive, and that some things are easier to make lots of than others. You should not be surprised that a folk musician can make lots of albums in a year, because the process is fairly streamlined compared to other forms of music.

Most of the times, when musicians challenge themselves to be very productive, they generally tend to aim for music like pop or folk music, because it requires less complexity.

Would you like to claim that “it’s easier to wrote a 2 hour long symphony than a 2 minute folk song” is true?

            The point
            You

It’s not about what’s more “”“productive”“”" you effing shareholder. It’s not about which is more difficult. It’s about the fact this person was not only brave enough to produce music actively critical of the regime, but has done so with enough talent to gain meaningful recognition. It’s the same respect for Rage Against the Machine; the music is great, but the focus is the proliferation of the message. Any jackass can get on the internet and say whatever they want, but being able to convert those sentiments into music, publish that music, and get the level of attention Jesse has for it is the accomplishment.

So it’s not a concerto in E minor, sure. But it pulls attention to the issues we’re facing. Listen to The Poor and tell me that message isn’t worth making cuz it’s easy. Listen to Join ICE and tell me it doesn’t matter because it’s too streamlined.

Ok, now you’re just devolving into nonsense.

I’m trying to help empower people into thinking that they can also achieve things that they think only happen to other people so that they can be more creative and satisfied in their life. I am pointing my own experience as common and the wrong thing to do.

I literally went to therapy and took anti depressants to deal with this issue. I was getting burnt out by work and additional responsabilities, and turning to just easy pleasures like playing proc-gen rougelikes and felt like I was wasting my life. My therapist introduced me to the idea of the eudaimonic/hedonistic balance, and it’s important to keep a balance between these so that you aren’t burning yourself out, and also not looking back at the month that went by as a complete fucking waste.

Because when you look at other people that appear to be “creatives” you need to see yourself as being capable enough to be like them, and not feel defeatism in “oh no, I can’t ever do that, because I don’t have what they have”.

                  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eudaimonia
                  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedonism

This is literally a battle I’m having in my spare time at the moment for my own sanity and life satisfaction, and want to share those ideas with other people. Get out of the meme space and think for yourself man.
