Netflix really fucked up with this show. I have to wonder why. Why ruin a good thing that has a decent sized audience?

From what I recall, producers/writers wanted more creative freedom, Cavill wanted more accuracy. And it was cheaper to replace Cavill so off he went.

Because whoever was in charge didn’t just want The Witcher. They wanted Fibojoly’s The Witcher.
Pride goes before a fall, and all that.

Seems like the main thing they fucked up in was hiring an actual fan to be in the show. They clearly had a vision in mind that departed quite a bit from the source material and that was going to bother hardcore fans of the original games and or books.

I’m pretty sure the main thing they fucked up was having a Clear Vision in mind that departed quite a bit from The Source material.

Beyond that, Hemsworth looks too much like his brother so it kept breaking what little immersion was left with me constantly forgetting Mjölnir or Loki aren’t going to show up.

Netflix doesn’t green light shows based on vision. There’s no concrete plan past the first/sexond season for most any show but especially not for Netflix.

What I mean is they had written a season, or at least the first few episodes and from the jump Henry Cavill read the script and was pointing out the inconsistency and just plain old wrongness of it. That should probably have been a heads up. He went from being excited to work on a show for a franchise he liked to hating the show, and that was a pretty stark and quick change.

Yeah i’m sure she “considered” quitting for about two seconds. The Witcher is the biggest break she’s ever gotten, and Ciri is more of a focus than ever.

She did get fucked by cavill leaving because it just compounded the horrible story choices. I really struggle to enjoy any of it after season 2 and the ratings for seasons 3 and 4 are truly atrocious for a show that started so strong.

I love the Witcher universe, but the show was always kinda trash.

The main cast, the wardrobe, props and world design were all great. But the story, direction and editing were never good. I don’t remember if I even made it through S2. I can’t imagine how bad things have gotten.

I’m not really a huge witcher fan. I’ve played a bit of the first game and a big portion of the 3rd game, and i’ve never read any of the books.

I don’t need the story to be canon, I just need for it to not be shit. So much in the show is visually beautiful and it definitely can be entertaining at times, it just doesn’t have the impact of other shows.

I’m counting down the days for the next release of shows like Foundation, For All Mankind and Silo. I would kill for another season of Kaos or Wheel of Time, but those are done for good. I guess the closest thing I can look forward to for a fantasy tv show right now is Frieren.

Fuck this show and its ballbag armor.

“We’re not adapting the game, we’re adapting the books”

OK. So why does Garry sound like he’s from the games?

I’m currently watching the last season. Not being a great fan of the series and not being really engaged with the story, and kinda just watching it to finish, most of times I sincerely don’t even notice they changed the main actor lol
