    Holy shit this comment section is either all bots or there’s a whole section of lemmy that goes out of its way to deliberately ignore the comedic irony of this.

    I hate it because it’s ai. You hate it because it’s “homophobic??”

    As if portraying someone who hates lgbtq people as being lgbtq is anything more than making fun of them for hating lgbtq people.

      Been seeing this line lately. I do think it’s a Russian internet research agency approved line for sure. I called Putin and Trump gay for each other and a bunch of hexbear accounts called it homophobic in unison.

      It’s obviously AI, so it pokes fun at Trump’s shameless embrace of AI misinformation in the same way it pokes at his homophobia. It’s crude, like he is; that’s the point.

            I’m so sorry. One of my neighbours is non-American MAGA as well, and without taking a hammer to my frontal lobe, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to understand how they see the world. They literally believe sci-fi fantasy shit about giants’ bones and “med beds” and cloning politicians.

      It ended up being a lonely kid on the spectrum who lives at home, can’t drive and thinks he has a “real job” walking dogs for his book club. Sad and funny.

      He refused therapy. Dbzero admins too. I’m almost as disappointed as their parents.

        Because, to me (humor is subjective), a person that is so hateful towards LGBTQ people that has a secret life partaking in the same thing would be funny. This image can only hurt you if you let it.

            Not the OVERWHELMING, BLINDING, BURNING hypocrisy of the situation? That doesn’t factor into it?

            As a queer person who started their antifa activity over twenty years ago defending LGBTQ marches baseball bat in hand I find this post fucken hillarious.

            This dosnt even register at such levels for me but around my parts a lot of gay humour is based around use and abuse of slur terms, also to take them back, as was done with “gay” or “queer”. Hardly anyone but closeted selfhating guys and the instagram raised youth would have a problem with implying a right wing politician is gay. Preferably in their “gayest” voice to a bunch of terriefied normies. It also might be true for a key figure of our national politics, but that’s another story.

            Because most of the staunchest homophobes are gay man with very serious problems with it, followed by weak minded guys trying to be more manly it makes sense to hit that. Addressing and poking fun at that from our, known to be overly “correct” side puts them out of balance, causes rifts, suspicion and rises pressure in their own groups leading to more conflicts and divisions, therby limiting their reach. In my country we had stirred such gossip on purpouse and involuntarily outed some of far right leaders, so now the suspicion persists in their ranks. Their weapon was turned against them.
            Even if you have more issues with such aproach then people who’d been oppressed most their life: it is in fact a war comrade, and you better get around to what that actually means. No one gets out of one both morally impeccable and alive.

      I’m a lesbian. I do not take offense to this image. It’s ironic because Trump is so homophobic, and it’s also a play on words regarding the legislation referred to as the “Big beautiful bill.” You’re either a bot, a Trump bootlicker, or you have a touch of the 'tism if you can’t understand irony or puns.

      Yes, it’s AI. We all know it’s AI. That doesn’t make it less funny.

    There’s a lot of heated statements in here but I don’t see the homophobia in this post unless there’s more context. In this isolated post, it seems like they’re just extending the Epstein release about “Bubba”.

    I won’t take away from anyone who finds it offensive though. You’re completely right to feel that way.

      The homophobia is that the “joke” here is “hahah trump is GAY with BILL CLINTON!”

      Gayness isnt a bad thing. Using it to be insulting to trump means in that instance its perceived as a bad thing. Thats the homophobia.

      Trump is an awful person who has done awful things. “Haha gaaay” isnt useful or funny when the man is a serial rapist, and now murderer

        I can only speak for myself in detecting homophobia and I’m not always the best judge. I don’t want to deny your experience either, I’ll just say what I’m seeing:

        There were leaks earlier that someone texted about Trump gave a blowjob or something to someone called Bubba. Then people speculated it was either Bill Clinton or even the nickname of a horse (I think people were just reaching for extremes in the memes).

        Assuming the leak was real and person that sent the message was real and that Bubba was the nickname for Bill Clinton. I think people are just putting out fakes of the evidence of that?

        I don’t see anyone saying it’s not “manly” to be gay or that being gay is undesirable?

        Like I said, if I twist myself a bit a little too I think I can see the “haha gay people” angle. I just don’t think I see it, maybe it’s because I would like to think homophobia is so played out I would think they’d make a better joke or that secretly gay politicians is so common now.

        That doesn’t mean you’re wrong though for sure, just because I can’t see it doesn’t mean the author’s intent isn’t there.

          The implication is that it would be embarrassing for him to have had a gay relationship.

          Trump not wanting people to think that he’s gay is the other half of the homophobia, and by making that the butt of the joke, we’ve affirmed it.

            I think I can see where you’re coming from in that way.

            I’m not gay so I’m not as sensitive to these jokes. I am Asian, however, and I dislike “Uncle Roger” for what I think is similar to this. The butt of the joke is that Asian people speak funny. So I think it’s similar to what you’re saying. The butt of the joke is that it’s embarrassing to have a gay relationship.

      Also, it’s not homophobic to say that homophobes being gay on their private lives, especially if they work to pass policy that makes it worse for gay people, are bad people. It isn’t about them being gay. It’s about them enjoying a thing while trying to punish others for enjoying that same thing.

    Trump being embarrassed for people thinking he had a gay relationship makes him homophobic

    Affirming that embarrassment by making it the butt of the joke makes the joke homophobic
