Oh it’s actually worse than that. Protesting isn’t illegal, it’s just that the government and the police get to choose which protests are allowed.
What this means is that they can have the illusion of allowing protests but actually ban protests but they don’t like. Case in point, Tommy Robinson’s rallies are allowed, but protests against the genocide in Gaza can be shut down if somebody mentions the words “Palestine” and “action”.
That’s the point. The governments don’t give a damn about you or the issues. You must simply never disagree with them.
If only they had any experience of that in living memory.
