So, it appears that PC vendors are no longer hesitant to hike prices of their products, and Corsair is a recent example. While PC price hikes are common these days, what’s not acceptable is cancelling the already placed order without any valid reason. A Redditor just reported that he became a victim of such an incident after he placed an order for a Corsair pre-built system two days ago.

That is not the solution. The solution is to never buy anything from them again and for the guy whose order was cancelled to sue them for specific performance (+ court costs, obviously) and for the government to issue punitive fines.

The unfortunate reality is that court costs are awarded after the fact and that means you have to be able to put up the money first. A company as large as Corsair will drag it out until any non-wealthy individual can’t afford to pay their lawyers anymore and win by default. This is why hitting their bottom line is the only viable strategy these days

And small claims won’t accomplish what you want it to. They will settle or, again, drag it out, and chalk it up as a cost of doing business since the cost will be less than the profit they earn from this shady shit

I say this from a position of experience. The courts rarely if ever are an effective way to produce systemic change in matters between corporations and consumers. They just aren’t designed to work that way

They’ll almost certainly settle in small claims. It costs more to get the attorneys involved than the max scc judgement.

The biggest barrier to filing in small claims is the time investment. Depending on location it’s only like $100.

Yup. Small claims is great if you just want compensation for yourself. But it is not an effective means of influencing these companies. If you have enough people filing small claims for them to care then you have a class action which is not small claims.

What for? So the customer wastes his precious time and money suing them so they could potentially get them what they want and issue a fine that’s equivalent to a slap on the wrist? It ain’t worth it.

Aren’t they quitting the consumer market and only making stuff for companies now? Unfortunately I don’t think a boycott will affect them, would definitely need some other consequences.

No, that’s Micron and their Crucial brand who’re leaving the consumer market to further feed the AI stupidity.
