Looks like they installed it backwards, otherwise you’d be able to piss right into the toilet from the shower… because some people think it’s gross to wee in the shower.
It never bothered me, but then I had to replace the 2nd floor bathroom junction from the ceiling below, and saw that the tub, sink, and toilet all join and go into the same pipe. It doesn’t matter which drain it goes into, it’s all the same pipe.
Might be handy info at a big party. Pee wherever you want, just keep it off the floor.
Sure it all leaves through the same pipe, but it’s not like you stand in the toilet, no one ever lays down and soaks in the toilet, most of us don’t put children in the toilet.
It’s pee, not glue, it washes right off. Don’t you shower with soap and water? Wouldn’t that washes the pee down the drain, every single time you use it? It’s basically the same method you use in the dishwasher to clean the utensils you EAT with.

For the truly enlightened it allows you to piss into the shower while standing on the toilet.

Most people wash their tubs regularly. A little pee is going to wash right away.
Weekly? Every couple weeks? So you’re good standing in pee for a couple weeks, or you expect no one else to take a shower for a couple weeks?

My dishwasher uses high speed jets of 160° water to scour and sanitize.
Um… Define “regularly”
Every time you use it.
Most people definitely don’t clean their shower/tub every time they use it.
Water and soap coats the surfaces, rinses off and goes down the drain. It’s washed good enough for pee.
…as a women?
Women can too, yes
As a men 🙏
