Take a look at melatonin. It doesn’t put you to sleep per-say, but it helps your brain say “it’s time to sleep”.

It’s mild for me, but it makes my best friend sleepy pretty quick.

      So true

I have this video saved as an mp3 on a second device just for sleeping. Helps block plug little noises that my broken brain terms to fixate on. It’s 8 hours too, so you can use it as a impromptu timer to know when to wake up. If the nose hasn’t stopped, then it’s not time to wake yet.

I use the mynoise app for Android. Free version has enough useful sounds for sleep, focus and the like. It even has the ‘color’ sounds like pink noise and white noise.

Reading when I’m tired always puts me to sleep.

The articles on this site are particularly good at putting me to sleep. They’re just interesting enough that I’ll read them, but not so entertaining that I want to continue.

If you’ve an OLED screen dialed dim with a blue light filter, the effect it’s having is going to be negligible, and having an e-reader is not gonna be much different.

Although audio-books etc still would be better than even very very mild reddish lights.

Lately I’ve listened to Star Trek TNG and just yesterday started Voyager. They’re nice because I’ve seen them so many times and they’re usually pretty static from camera angles and dialogue heavy, so it’s fine just listening to them.

Chamomile tea is known to help, but you would have to have some on hand, which I’m assuming you don’t. Soooo…

This wasn’t very helpful, was it?

Just remember to check the entire tea is free of actual tea (black/white/green tea whichever), because while chamomile doesn’t have caffeine, lots of chamomile teas are actually black teas flavoured with chamomile, but also there are obviously tons of herbal chamomile tea mixes without caffeine at all. So those would be preferable for insomniacs

Thanks for the headsup! The ingredients say “camomile” and nothing else. :D

Well it should be “tea” in the general form of the word then, as in some plant steeped. Because “tea” is also the name of the tea plant in some contexts. But yes, what you have should be completely caffeine-free per my understanding.
