We’re back from holiday! Germany was great. Our favourite city was probably Hamburg because a) Miniatur Wunderland, b) Planten un Blomen and c) Hamburg DOM (we rode the big ferris wheel and there were fireworks! :D)

German tv was also funny because they have a lot of dubbed english shows. I had a great night lying in bed watching dubbed Gilmore Girls.

The people we met were all really friendly and nice, we had an awesome time. Thanks Germany!

Hamburg isn’t really a pretzel state. If you visit, get a Franzbrötchen. Beer is the same as everywhere else more or less.

It’s possible that the name originated during the napoleonic occupation of Hamburg, but there are other theories involving a baker named Franz. Anyway, it’s neither french nor bread, it’s a pastry.

They started selling those in my corner of Europe and the store (coop) calls them, roughly translated, “Franz’s cinnamon pastry”.
