I looked it up
Surveillance pricing is a form of dynamic pricing where a consumer’s personal data and behavior is used to determine their willingness to pay.
Why don’t we nix ford? I think would be the better idea.
Ontario has had a couple of chances to get rid of him…
Maybe next time they’ll actually do it.
How that fucker is still in office absolutely wrecks my brain
A 45% voter turnout which followed a 41% turnout will do that. Here in Montréal we elected an ex-Liberal piece of shit mayor because the turnout was only 36%.
It is, quite frankly, our fault. This isn’t the US, we have good options readily available, so anyone who doesn’t vote but complains should be automatically signed up to get their fucking teeth kicked in.
People don’t understand electoral democracy well. Which might be saying something about the system itself.
Because no one votes except the fat fucks in RAM 1500s and Boomers.
They will when Alberta votes out the UCP.
And when giraffes can fly.
Ontario doesn’t vote. We’re as bad as the USA.
I voted NDP for both provincial and federal. Should I switch my vote to Liberal? When I was waiting to vote in the federal polls, someone told me they were voting liberal, but voted conservative in the Ontario polls…
Ford said that would run contrary to a free market.
“There’s no better way of letting people get lower costs on no matter if it’s cars or homes or groceries, than competition”
Nothing like a good old price-fixing scheme between friendly oligarchs to really affirm the spirit of competition.
I’ve met 7th graders with a better understanding of economics.
It may not be that he doesn’t understand. It may be that he’s not working for us.
Most people believe the myth of free market competition. The PCs thrive on this lie, then let monopolies rule everything.
Ditto the liberals.
Someone should tell him the city-run stores would compete with the rest.
…speaking of people that need to go, ol’ Dougie’s time needs to wind down
I mean, we all KNEW he was a crook, but then he handled Trump’s attacks on Canada pretty well I will grudgingly admit, AND he even told PP to get fukt…
Daddy Carney is here now, so time to clean house of the trash
Wtf is that last line…just because we fully lost our shit in the US doesn’t mean Canada should go full fucking maga too.
Carney isn’t maga, what is wrong with people on this page??
Worshipping a leader is a MAGA thing.
oh i see, you were just telling the other guy to chill out. mb
da fuq does full maga mean, based on my last sentence
go outside and touch grass
Calling politicians daddy and worshipping them is maga af.
it’s a joke
Take a deep breath, and go for a walk
Same thing they’ve been saying for a decade but whatever.
Who are “they”?
If it’s people who care about you also saying to go outside and calm down, I would consider listening to them
Mark Carney? The guy that just got rid of the luxury jet tax?
Mark is not our friend.
Speak for yourself, he’s done more for the poor then Justin ever did, and no, the NDP’s dental is not they’re achievement. Substence over optics
I guarantee you, Mark will fuck up more shit for healthcare and housing in the future than you can imagine.
No no, don’t you see, the white cats are nothing like the black cats.
Substence over optics
Carney is all about optics, hell his own Public Safety Minister admitted bill C21 was all for votes in Quebec and not public safety, near 2 billion dollar bill and yet he claims the deficit is declining, the treasury disagrees.
“Can’t wait until we see the last of the Joker. The Scarecrow is coming to save us!”
Daddy Carney is here now, so time to clean house of the trash
🥾😋
Stop. Voting. For. People. Like. This.
“That is what we believe in. That’s a capitalist society, a market. The other one is socialism. Socialism does not work. You go around and dictating and overseeing every single price, no. If there’s collusion on pricing, I’ll go after them and tear them to shreds, but nothing beats a free market.”
One thing I keep noticing about right-wing thinking is that it tends to be very coarse-grained, black and white, with no subtlety or shades of grey. It’s either all or nothing. But reality is never all or nothing, it’s always shades of grey, ambiguous and complex. Look at how conservatives talk about any topic - vaccines or immigration or science funding or transgender health care or climate change - and you’ll find this tendency for unrealistic all-or-nothing crudeness.
That and also it’s just a collection of dumb ideologies for dumb people. “Socialism doesn’t work” falls apart the second you know anything and there are so many examples of it being better for everyone. They’re championing capitalism which has been shown time and again to not work for anyone but the ultra rich(those for whom it was designed).
I mean I’m no capitalist, but even his argument for capitalism here is bullshit. The only world where surveillance pricing is sensible (from a free market capitalist POV) is where you make an argument for surveillance perfecting market actors’ information to achieve a better equilibrium. But that just isn’t true, because with surveillance you have perfect information on behalf of the seller but wildly imperfect knowledge and lock-in on behalf of the buyer.
There are no good conservatives or liberals, the NDP needs to exploit this gap and pick up the damn ball.
It’s really amazing this talent Doug Ford has to be absolutely wrong about every single thing.
He has a secret weapon - whenever he’s so wrong that his voter base thinks so, he apologizes and takes it bach. In today’s political world it’s a rare trait and it works.
This timeline blows
Man of the people, working families /s
What? You don’t have a new $30M private jet?! Get a job!
What a dickhead.
Ahh the future former Premier of Ontario.
Don’t hold your breath. There’s a reason why I left that province.
One day in my lifetime Ford won’t be Premier of Ontario anymore. He’s spent more time as Premier then there is left for him to be Premier.
If somebody with too much money pays more for a speeding ticket in Sweden, everyone here would be getting justice boners.
Maybe one person paying more means another person gets to afford it because the average price is the same or higher for the company to be happy with increased profits overall. Yah, yah, companies are never happy… but overall, if line goes up, there might be something to be said for those that can pay bearing the brunt of the profit motive.
That is not how this will work… anyone that has watched capitalism for more than 5 years could tell you that
It’s a dangerous game to play with commodities. It flies in the face of basic supply and demand. It can create a black market with hoarded things bought at lower prices and resold for a huge profit. Hoarding during the pandemic as well as GPU and Pokemon scalpers should be enough of an example to shut that shit down before it ever happens.
He won’t last this 3rd term. He will step down.
He just bought a $30M private jet. Or, more accurately, we just bought a $30M private jet for him.
Fucking 905ers and blue collar hicks in rural Ontario love him, he has that job for life. Ontario loves them pale, male, and stale, without a hint of kale.
I hate this world.
He should have never even been allowed to hold his “emergency election”. He sent out bribe tax rebate cheques and held an election ASAP cause ontario almost clued in to the true nature of his policies.
Only to run for PM
LOL sure. The idiot doesn’t speak French and you don’t become PM without French or the backing of QC so……
Really? What doyou think would get him to step down?
A bag of crack?
We gotta call Rob’s ghost.
Today?? A 30million dollar taxpayer paid jet!!! Too many scandals will finally FINALLY catch up to him before the end of his term. Just like his idol Mike Harris, Ford will step down this term, put someone else in who becomes leader of the party and they will proceed to lose the election to (hopefully) Nate Erskine-Smith who will be Liberal leader of Ontario by then.
I envy your optimism.
Separate, you think Nate’s gonna be it? I voted as hard as I could for him in the last OLP leadership election but the result was abysmal. And then in the prov election, ONDP got much more seats with much fewer votes. I’m wondering if I should do ONDP next time around. I guess we’ll see if Nate makes it and how the polls look in our ridings.
Oh I’m definitely going ABC in the next provincial election. If Navdeep Bains is Liberal leader then I will definitely be voting NDP, I’d only consider Liberal provincially if it was Nate Erskine-Smith. I think Marit Stiles would be an excellent Premier. But as I said, I’m voting whoever has the best chance to beat the openly corrupt PCs.
Solid plan. I’m prolly in the same boat.
