    There was a day here couple years ago when the grid accidentally bought more energy than needed so people would be actually paid to use electricity

      Lol here it just means you only pay the grid fee and the electricity is free. The difference gets absorbed by whoever you buy from (seller, not producer) and the producers have to pay to produce electricity when price is negative.

      Consumer never sees the negative price. It happens a lot during ur summer though. Balanced out by super high prices in the winter when it’s cold and dark, so I just stay on a fixed rate plan instead of choosing which days I can heat my home and have a hot shower.

      Couple years ago? Where do you live? In Germany we had that happen last month and multiple times per year at least.
