context: ich_iel is the german language version of me_irl.
we have it in our RSS reader and we have noticed the posts about the summer heat (these ones and far more) come like CLOCKWORK. and yes there is stuff on english speaking lemmy but it is nothing like this hehe. we just think this is a fun bit of perspective to share.
climate change does really sux ofc, and datacenters are not so promising in of themselves. like make horse raising grounds instead! treat them with the love and kindness and comfort they deserve and they will be infinitely cooler than any pynchonesque sand repository
horses r awesome!!
Horses aren’t even real
Oh I’m doing plenty of English-language complaining for the whole country about this heat in Germany. I come from New Zealand and spent plenty of time on the Gold Coast in Australia in summer. This is nothing like that. The houses here are built to retain heat - it is currently 30+°C inside with no way of cooling it down. Commercial businesses without A/C (of which there are many) are mostly shut down.
„Just buy A/C“ you might say? Landlords are demons from hell and won’t let you stick the external units where they’re visible on the facade. Even if you have a permissive landlord, they’re all sold out everywhere. Even just electric fans are impossible to find.
It is a unique hell on Earth and people are dying, not because they’re weak willed or whatever nonsense narrative Amis try to push about Europeans.
This isn’t about climate change as a whole, but the current heat in particular.
Also you missed the post about someone eating a popsicle at 7:30.

horses r awesome!!
aww, thank you ❤️
of course!!! <3 stay beautiful
A lot of English-speaking Lemmy is from places used to the heat (e.g. US, Australia). My city is at roughly the same latitude as Casablanca, for instance.
