I think your meant to use a cover and wash the cover
unless your cover is lined with a rubber sheet, the pillow will get dirty eventually.
Maybe that was the problem, lol. Never had any problem washing my pillows. I’ve only used basic IKEA pilllows though, not sure about the fancy memory foam or similar types.
