Regardless of opinions on Razer this is a win. The bug corps are finally paying a bit of attention
There has been corps like dell offering Linux distros like 10-15 years ago, it just never was an attractive option compared to windows
But windows is killing itself
This is a gaming laptop though, it’s a different market
Razer could bring the biggest bump to Linux market share since the Steam Deck, or possibly even more
The current biggest weakness of Linux is lack of OEMs shipping it. Most people do not want to install an OS themselves, or even know that it’s possible.
Massive win. Too bad the year of the Linux desktop happened with the explosion of RAM prices. lol
I think it’s actually a good time for year of Linux since Linux is more efficient with memory than Windows 11

I’ve been rocking a mouse that has a broken middle mouse click from them that’s only like 3 years old so no. Thankfully the 4th and 5th buttons work so I can just remap to those buttons.
I remember getting shitty mice from these assholes like 15 years ago. Little has changed apparently.
And unfuck their support?

I have an older Razer Blade 13 that was a replacement for a lower end model that had battery issues. It was well within the warranty period (had it less than two months). I had been emailing their support for a couple weeks before getting tired of the wait and just tagged them on Twitter and asked for help. Had a replacement in less than 48 hours. Their actual support is trash, but the social media team seems to be the way to go when it comes to getting actual help.
EDIT: For clarification, I sent them back the bad one and hadn’t heard from them for awhile.
The main thing I’ve heard about them is if you want support from them, you’d better be an influencer.

I’ve been happily running Linux on my 2021 Blade 14 for years. NVIDIA support is still somewhat of a problem but that’s not unique to Razer. It’s gotten way better over the years but some games still stutter a bit or run slower than Windows. Otherwise, it’s a fine experience.
Is this why they’ve been working on a web app for configuration instead of Synapse? This is a win for everybody.
I think I get it now. “The year of Linux on the desktop” doesn’t refer to a specific calendar year. Its just how long it takes them to do it.
