I’ve been using AI as a data querying machine, and that has become a game changer for me.

I can ask it to do an aggregation query in our few thousands datasets within our company, and the AI can produce some series of 100 line SQL queries within seconds. I, and my team, can go far deeper and faster in our data analysis than before.

So yeah, if AI disappeared tomorrow I would be deeply impacted.

Your job wouldn’t be missed if AI disappeared tomorrow if you’re that reliant on it.

Nothing you do matters. I hope you understand that.

Most jobs don’t matter tbh. Does any society actually need advertisers/marketing people, corporate executives (or frankly about 70% of middle management jobs), corporate consultants, or private equity? These jobs could vanish overnight and no one in the general population would give a shit. Lots of those jobs are a net negative to society, people might even be better off.

AI just exacerbates the existing trend of Bullshit Jobs by allowing people to produce orders of magnitude more worthless garbage (which is a massive boon to the worthless garbage industy, e.g. advertising, fraud, and propaganda).

You’re not doing anything though. You admitted that in your post. If AI went away tomorrow you’d be screwed. You aren’t doing a job, the AI is.

You’re completely useless. And it won’t be long until your bosses realize that.

My job is mainly producing the thousands of datasets. Producing one-off SQL queries for our customers is merely a side quest (which is now aided by AI). I can spend more time on my main quest.

I don’t think anyone is arguing against some of the very real applicable uses of llms in fields like data or even medicine.

Still, I would give those up so that tech bros stop hurting the working class.

Well, here you can’t mention you’re using AI for your job without anyone pointing out that the job cannot possibly be of real value if AI can help you with it.

Tbf, the whole industry is heavily weighted towards the LLMs that steal data, produce lies, and ruin lives. Mostly, to convince shareholders to keep inflating the bubble that is primed to fuck up at least one nation’s entire economy.
