Real talk: putting almost any lifeform in to too-small an enclosure, with too few elements from their natural environs, is a pretty effective way to make their lives more miserable and get the least-interesting experience out of appreciating them.
As a kid I went to an aquarium, and they had goldfish, but instead of creating some micro-habitat like in all the other tanks, they had just put a bunch of mirrors in there and all smooth surfaces.
A plaque explained that the gold fish as a breed/species no longer had a natural environment, so didn’t require any similarity to one either.
And even as a kid I remember that striking me as just incredibly stupid.
