I ain’t buying more games from Nintendo.
He’s on the fediverse btw and the fediverse video is here.
Dude peertube is so weird.
I have an account on a different instance than tilvids. So I can’t like or subscribe to his channel?
You absolutely can subscribe, comment, and like videos from his channel from your Tilvids instance, you just need to navigate to his channel within your own instance.
I believe if you put his channel URL into Tilvid’s search box, the two instances should federate and his content should show up for you to interact with.
I also found this video which shows how to subscribe to channels from other instances: https://tube.jeena.net/videos/watch/51a189cf-3372-4f97-9ff7-b5982dce4c9e
I navigate to the channel on my own instance (from the peertube android app). But no subscribe button.
It may not be possible to do in the app, as I believe that is not feature complete yet. You’ll likely have better luck from a regular browser.
To be honest, I consume peertube via GrayJay. Back when I used mbin, it was also possible to subscribe to channels. Dunno why it wouldn’t be possible to subscribe via peertube.
Maybe the instance owner @tilvids@mstdn.social can help out.
Honestly the weirdness is from it being federated, and I’m not sure there’s a way to make this more seamless without some serious downsides. Peertube also uses the ActivityPub protocol like Lemmy (although currently there’s no connectivity between the two like we have with Mastodon) and Lemmy can do some weird stuff too - assuming you’re not on an app, I can link to this post on my instance, and you won’t be able to interact with it.
(A “view this post on another instance” option might be a nice thing to have, I wonder if there’s enough interest for me to try to implement one?)
It should depend on if they’re federated.
Unfortunately, a lot of peertube instance owners are incredibly stupid and think that excluding others somehow makes their own instance more valuable/attractive.
