So what is the recommended dose of LSD?
Traditionally the drug is sold to you on perforated paper, which you plop in your mouth for a while before discarding. It comes in “sheets” of a 100 doses, “strips” of ten, and “tabs” of one single dose. You can pretty easily cut a tab in half with scissors to take a half dose if desired.
The actual amount per tab depends on the person who made it and the conditions it has been in since. The “standard” is 100 micrograms, in practice you could see anything from like 50-120.
“Recommend” is a strong word, as much as people love it it’s irresponsible to “recommend”. But usually if you get a new strip (or if it’s literally your first time) it’s wise to try half a dose first. Make sure your set and setting are on point at any dose. If you have a great experience and want to try larger doses it’s wise to try gradual increases rather than take huge jumps. Lots of people decide that first half tab is absolutely perfect and never feel the need to go higher

I thought rec was short for recreational dose. However, I also heard about 100 ug. Never tried LSD myself, just psilocybin.

No, mg is milligrams. Micrograms are µg (or just ug sometimes).
If you take 100 mg of LSD, you’re in for one hell of a trip!
It depends on how you’re doing it, (and how it was stored, because the molecule is pretty fragile and breaks down easily) but typically a single hit would be in the ballpark of 90-110 micrograms. So 500x would be about 0.05 grams. Which is a truly astronomical amount of LSD. Probably not the highest ever recorded, (that honor goes to a couple of idiots who thought it was cocaine and snorted it), but still a mind-meltingly high amount.
That highest dosage (while technically unknown, because we only have the ER reports when they showed up completely comatose) is estimated that they had somewhere between 1000 to 2100 hits each. And they survived. So at least Toad isn’t in danger of OD’ing.
That sounds like a sure fire way to obtain ego death.

Emesis and collapse occurred along with signs of sympathetic overactivity, hyperthermia, coma and respiratory arrest. Mild generalized bleeding occurred in several patients and evidence of platelet dysfunction was present in all. Serum and gastric concentrations of LSD tartrate ranged from 2.1 to 26 nanograms per ml and 1,000 to 7,000 μg per 100 ml, respectively. With supportive care, all patients recovered. Massive LSD overdose in man is life-threatening and produces striking and distinctive manifestations.

Hah, yup. In my head, I stupidly went “Milli is 10-3 so micro is 10-4.” Somehow completely skipping that “micro” means “million”. Regardless, the rest of the post is correct because I wasn’t using 5 grams as the basis for anything else.
