It is very easy for those who know Portuguese to learn Spanish and vice-versa because the grammar is the same and most words are the same.
However the spoken Portuguese from Portugal has a very strong accent (which makes it sound almost like an Eastern European language for those not from EE, unlike Brasilian Portuguese) which makes it harder for Spanish-speakers to understand.
