I wouldn’t compare NFTs to VR or AI. The latter two create value, while the former is purely a scam.

Ai in the future will create value and be a decent product for some use cases. But… it is likely a few billion dollar industry, not the multi-trillion industry that the current spending commitments would need to be profitable

The investment of trillions to get back billions is an excellent example of value destruction (to say nothing of the ecosystem destruction they are engaged in).

Automated caption systems, translators, and data formatters will disappear into the background and will be useful.

But they are fantastic for not taking responsibility for your actions. Health care, public assistance, law enforcement, will all become more arbitrary and bigoted. People will be continue to be hunted down and killed by ICE. Dotards will continue to start wars based on chatbot advice. That’s what the Epstein class is already using them for, they’re a smokescreen.

I agree with the overall concept, LLMs seem extremely useful, I’d say our direction for them is just idiotic. Local devices trained for what they are actually doing, without sending everything back so you can confidently train it on your styles of things etc… I see as a very practical idea. But of course the US’s super focused giant corporate controlled everything goes to a data center of some huge dangerous tech company is beyond ridiculous, and of course just the build out scale of investing literal trillions of dollars into it.

The wild thing is, NFTs were creating value before they were called that, and they still are. A git commit hash is an NFT, for all intents and purposes. The only uhh innovation is being able to pay money for it.
