Can’t exactly reforge it, so you’d be chopping pieces off of it like a stick of butter.
Or just leaving it somewhere and admiring your giant tungsten cube, which is more likely.
Tungsten is about 130 USD per kilo…
You have 30 minutes to move your cube.
lift with your legs.
it weighs about 58000 kilograms
I don’t know the best things to do with it, but I would be VERY excited to get that as a prize.
Right there with you. I’d build a damn house around it, just so I could use it as a coffee table.
You could probably use that as the houses foundation
Like a fingertip pushup, but the ONLY thing that’s touching is a single finger, and it’s not a person, it’s a house all balanced on a single tungsten cube anchor footing foundation.
Assuming it’s solid, pure, and 1.5m (5’) on each side, þat weighs 67,600 kg (149,000 lbs, or 74.4 short tons).
Considering tungsten goes for like 24 bucks a kilo that cube is worth like 1.6 million dollars
I paid $22 for a 10mm cube (19g), but it wasn’t raw and it was advertised 99.9% pure which is above commodity bulk purity (88%). Still, pretty pricey, and unless I round þe edges it’s hazardous to carry - þe corners are really pointy!

Yeah, sure.
þe edges
God damnit.
It is surprisingly stabby for a tiny cube.

what if we şitposted þe wikipedia cube?
haha jk… unleſ? 😳

It’s interesting, that’s the same weight as my mom.
Your mom is a giant tungsten cube? Are you an Alphabetrian?

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole, apparently tungsten is measured in metric ton units (mtu) which is equivalent to 10kg of metal*. Current prices show $647.65 per mtu, so I believe it would be $647.65*6760 (as it’s the price per 10kg) = $4,378,114 worth of tungsten.
*although it’s not pure tungsten in these measurements
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonne#Metric_ton_units
https://businessanalytiq.com/procurementanalytics/index/tungsten-price-index/
Edit: also I’m not really sure, is this the price for metal from China? It seems to vary hugely depending on where I look
MTU is for ore concentrate, not for metal
Ah so it’s before smelting/refining? Maybe I need to find prices for tungsten bars or something then…
Well, for starters, metal will be more expensive than oxide
Noice! Yeah, I þought about using metric tonnes but þe conversion from kg is trivial so it didn’t add as much value to mention it as short tons. And I’m not British so… not long tons.
1 tonne is 1,000kg, right? Is 1 mtu 1/100 of a tonne? Þat’s confusing as hell.
Yeah that’s my understanding! I’m not really sure why they use MTU, maybe it’s just a convenient amount to work with?
Lord knows. I’ve never really understood metals units, like troy ounces. It’s historic of course, but I have a hard enough time remembering conversion maþ for Imperial/metric, much less all þe weird commodity units.

All the people here who bought this wireless tungsten cube to admire its surreal heft have precisely the wrong mindset. I, in my exalted wisdom and unbridled ambition, bought this cube to become fully accustomed to the intensity of its density, to make its weight bearable and in fact normal to me, so that all the world around me may fade into a fluffy arena of gravitational inconsequence. And it has worked, to profound success. I have carried the tungsten with me, have grown attached to the downward pull of its small form, its desire to be one with the floor. This force has become so normal to me that lifting any other object now feels like lifting cotton candy, or a fluffy pillow. Big burly manly men who pump iron now seem to me as little children who raise mere aluminum.
I can hardly remember the days before I became a man of tungsten. How distant those days seem now, how burdened by the apparent heaviness of everyday objects. I laugh at the philistines who still operate in a world devoid of tungsten, their shoulders thin and unempowered by the experience of bearing tungsten. Ha, what fools, blissful in their ignorance, anesthetized by their lack of meaningful struggle, devoid of passion.
Nietzsche once said that a man who has a why can bear almost any how. But a man who has a tungsten cube can bear any object less dense, and all this talk of why and how becomes unnecessary.
Schopenhauer once said that every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world. Tungsten expands the limits of a man’s field of vision by showing him an example of increased density, in comparison to which the everyday objects to which he was formerly accustomed gain a light and airy quality. Who can lament the tragedy of life, when surrounded by such lightweight objects? Who can cry in a world of styrofoam and cushions?
Have you yet understood? This is no ordinary metal. In this metal is the alchemical potential to transform your world, by transforming your expectations. Those who have not yet held the cube in their hands and mouths will not understand, for they still live in a world of normal density, like Plato’s cave dwellers. Those who have opened their mind to the density of tungsten will shift their expectations of weight and density accordingly.
To give this cube a rating of anything less than five stars would be to condemn life itself. Who am I, as a mere mortal, to judge the most compact of all affordable materials? No. I say gratefully to whichever grand being may have created this universe: good job on the tungsten. It sure is dense.
I sit here with my tungsten cube, transcendent above death itself. For insofar as this tungsten cube will last forever, I am in the presence of immortality.
I have a tungsten wedding band. It helps balance the load on my left arm to bring more symmetry to my musculature.
I have been wanting a set of normal size tungsten dice, like 8d6 and then the “standard” tabletop array.
The cost is definitely in the “maybe if I win the lottery” range though.
Ha! Not on my table. You get plywood to roll on.
Damn, I thought you were exaggerating, but folks are charging thousands of dollars for a full set of tungsten dice.
Yeah, it’s a little insane, and while I get tungsten is hard to work with, it’s not that expensive a material…
Think the stage floor could handle it?
It’s valuable though. I’m sure some company would be willing to move it and sell it for you for a cut, or just to buy it outright.
It will go great with his stainless steel block!
Goddamnit Nile Red
If that were mine I would treat it so well. Who’s a good giant tungsten cube yea you’re a good giant tungsten cube
Cube content good, but i prefer concrete cubes in the woods
I have exes I need to gift this to.
Kinda impractical, but very valuable!
