It’s amazing isn’t it that this product category has been around for nearly a decade and then apple come in with their version of the product and its back to generation 1. The whole point of Apple waiting around is so they can steal everybody else’s innovations.
What? The two processes are nothing alike, where did you hear that they were? OPPO is adjusting surface flaws in machined components by filling with 3D resin, whereas Apple is directly printing components from an amorphous metal.

“During manufacturing, we use AI algorithms to precisely match each individual hinge with its best-fit housing to ensure perfect alignment, and a confocal laser progressively scans the topology of every single unit and 3D prints up to 25 micro layers of a custom photopolymer to eliminate residual waviness,”
Their hinge is using the same tech, in addition to whatever other thngs they’d thrown in.
They probably did, but could be that their production process is faulty and the problems only popped up during full production. It’s more a QA problem than a design problem. Otherwise every phone would have had a broken screen by now.
I’m pretty sure apple will have to refund these under warranty. Two broken screens you could put down to user error but they can hardly claim that all the customers fault.
Apparently apple didn’t bother to QC a new product category.

They made a “better” hinge. Apparently that’s what’s failing and breaks the screen.
Which is hilarious because even their ‘better hinge’ tech is just a copy of the OPPO Find N’s 3d resin smoothing idea.

I won’t quibble over semantics, thank you for providing a source!
So did they not test it?

No, I assure you it’s just boredom.
More like, how to push people to buy more.

yeah, is not like this is news
