pepper ann pepper ann way too cool for 7th grade
Yeah so you know how on a bunch of linux distros, Discord will nag you to update and then not let you in? And sometimes your repo isn’t up-to-date enough to have the new version for you? AH GEEZ! SO ANNOYING!
This includes how to fix it if you are on arch (CachyOS, Manjaro, etc).
2/10. Solution doesn’t involve replacing arch.
Here’s all the parts of a meme. Put them together yourself.
i can also recommend vesktop. i forgot if it’s an official or aur package, though
i have Vesktop installed as a flatpak
i like vesktop on popOS/ ubuntu-likes
just can’t beat their aesthetic
That’s what I’ve also been using and I do prefer it. It’s from the AUR
Just use it from the browser
If you don’t need a hotkey for your mic this is the best solution by far.
The Discord flatpak never nags you about the update! Join us in Flatpak land! It Just Works ™ .
Expect when it doesn’t! Flatpaks woo!
I try to avoid flatpaks as much as possible. Vesktop on on flatpak takes like 15%CPU while .deb takes like 3% (both on idle)
Goodcord flatpak eliminates telemetry and also includes vencord
Isn’t there a possibility that you’ll get banned for that ?
ive been using vesktop/vencord for the past whenever it became a thing and so far nothing
Just keep it a secret from whomever might report you 😆
Tbh I just use it as a reminder to run a system upgrade, otherwise I’d constantly forget to do it.
Omg it’s Pepper Ann! I haven’t thought about that show in probably 15 years.
This is why I run discord in the browser only.
plus you can use discord container
Interesting. it’d be even better if everything didn’t use discord as a wiki that can’t be indexed.
No matter the fixes I see, I just can’t help but wonder why the base software can’t just be better?
my favourite part is how first they say oh a new update download the deb but then it doesn’t auto download in app it takes you to the webpage (and you can’t close out of the update window)… then you double click the deb and it updates in apt but then you open it and it updates AGAIN.
another deb? toss it in the discord debs folder.
P. A. needs a sequel series.
Ez fix: sudo pacman -Rns discord && echo “127.0.0.1 discord.com *.discord.com” | sudo tee -a /etc/hosts
Hmm… But can you use discord when you block the connection to it by itself?
No. That’s the point.
Some great 3rd party clients on Flathub as well (Webcord, Vesktop…)
