Like a kid saw a rabbit doing that, and the parents had to come up with something so they said it was chocolate eggs… Then the kid wanted some… So the adults has to be like “that’s bad rabbit chocolate, it’s only good once a year”… Around easter time…

Chocolate eggs are a recent addition; it used to be actual eggs. Without looking it up, I seem to remember that it’s basically pagan spring fertility stuff (both eggs and rabbits).
