And fuck everyone who encouraged not voting or voting third party. At least according to the principles they supposedly hold, they’d be even more culpable since they fucking knew what’s at stake.
There have been like 3 times at the national level in America where voting third party actually worked. It is very clearly a problem, but voting third party doesn’t fix that problem.
Fix the problem that makes a 2-party system the only viable option, then vote for third parties. Or stay home and drink or get high. The results for the political landscape will be much the same. Granted, at this point in the game, you’re likely better off waiting for the collapse of America and putting something more effective in the new constitution.
In a first-past-the-post voting system with winner-take-all representation, it’s literally impossible for a 3rd party to be elected to the presidency. If you’re really committed to changing that, you’d vote for the people who are more likely to enact ranked choice voting and proportional representation (regardless of party)… and only at the local/state level since that’s where voting laws and regulations are made. Voting 3rd party for president does nothing but dilute the vote of the intended opposition party. Greens dilute the Dem vote, Libertarians (both big and small) dilute the Republican vote. To pretend otherwise plays right into the game the two big parties have always played.
Don’t engage. He’s chosen his path and there’s nothing to be said to convince him. Let him be content with his choices without external criticism or validation. It’s like being angry at a bear for shitting in the woods - it’s just its nature. There’s nothing to be gained here. Save your energy for causes that aren’t yet lost.
It’s so horrible. Fuck all of who voted for this shit.

Nope, never ‘fucking’ people trying to change the broken system by establishing a third-party. I’ll keep blaming people actually responsible.

Yes, we owe the Democrats our votes no matter what they do, or don’t do.
I now realize that the Democratic party didn’t fail their voters or America, we failed them.
Thank you for showing me the light.

Weird, somehow I already tagged you as ‘both sides’ and then you said this. Big time coincidence.

You make good points. Thank you.
