I came across this article on Reddit.
Apparently, Odysee plans on adding the ability for users to be able to watch any YouTube video on Odysee, regardless on whether or not the creator or video is even on Odysee.
Honestly 100% for Odysee and Peertube adopting this plus if we could get proxing for each other too.
Opensource can win because we can do what google cant afford to do (their investors would flip).
Interesting, haven’t tried Odysee much, yet.
The question: does Youtube know/allow this? They referred the annoying ads of youtube, so I guess they will not show up?
There are already alternative frontends for youtube, but having a platform do it instead of individuals, is easier to target for requests of takedown or whatever youtube decides to do about it.
Some peertube developers annouce tools like that, Im still serching it
Huh, so Odysee is going to be doing something like Invidious in addition to their own stuff?
It surprised me to see this. The good news is that apparently it doesn’t affect the revenue of creators…
Still, I don’t really know what to think about it as I’d just want the creators to move willingly to another platform.
Google won’t be happy with this, so I’m all for it!
Odysee still uses Google Adsense for revenue… So not a complete loss for google
