Linux: “Company? Update driver? The driver was written by gary420 and will work forever. No installation, just plug it in. You also get pressure sensitivity and pen buttons if you install this compatibility layer for libinput 6.9 or earlier. By the way, you can remap buttons if you understand gary420’s weird config file format, there’s a readme in the repo…”
Gary420 was a little cooooky but also respected you as a user to know how to use your tool better than what they envisioned.
Except tap zones because gary420 didn’t like them. You can configure tap zones − in a nice GUI, even − if you use the fingrr touchpad driver instead, but you lose hover sensing and pressure sensitivity.
Yeah gary420 doesn’t care how or what you interact with your touchpad
As long as you don’t use Adobe software. Wacom partnered with Adobe to feature trademarked Photoshop tool icons for the tap zones, which gary420 scraped right off just like the Windows key symbol on his keyboard.
I’m probably gonna give someone lemmy bingo for this, but:
I bet it still works under Linux

Ahh I’m so close, would you mind adding an improperly formatted spoiler?
Haha not today >! I’m not a clown!>
BINGO!
I dug out my 10 year old drawing tablet recently and resigned myself to fiddling with driver issues or display configs. That’s what I had to do back then to get it working with Linux. But to my delight, it was plug and play.
Oh man is this real because now I want to do it
Yes
I’m a furry Linux using kinkster trans girl.
That oughta get you some squares.
You’re far from square
Anyone have a link? I didn’t find anything with a search.
Link for what? The thousands of drivers in the Linux kernel?
Lemmy bingo. Isn’t that what we’re talking about? Or is this some joke I don’t understand?
people can make bingo cards for themselves
i vaguely remember seeing it in some (probably american) show, people went to a thing by a disliked character and when the thing was happening, they randomly giddily drew on a paper, and then they realise they all made bingo cards and they compared what they guessed might happen
I’ve never used a Wacom tablet, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen one, yet I know they did some weird shit in their drivers because they always get their own section in settings for any OS.
Something slightly similar happened to me a couple mos ago, I was attempting to install an alternative os on my phone, in order to do that I had to install xiaomis custom driver, unfortunately windows wouldn’t let me put the driver for a phone onto an “unknown device type”
