Or, just a theory, we let people like what they like?

Bashing on something just because it’s mainstream just screams “I’m 14” to everyone.

I never said people can’t enjoy what they like. I said they can’t like it and be cool. Coolness is a specific quality and often a high bar. I like doing crosswords but crosswords are a coolness-neutral activity, neither cool nor uncool, just a fun thing to do.

Caring really hard about main stream media, making it your personality? Uncool. Liking what you like regardless of some jackass on the Internet’s opinion: very cool.

You’re the one arguing it’s uncool to like mainstream stuff. Being popular and mainstream has arguably been a mark of coolness for ages. Liking nerdy stuff was considered uncool specifically because it wasn’t mainstream.

By defining mainstream stuff as uncool you are 100% trying to make yourself the arbiter of coolness. So, tell me again which goalposts are moving?

My dude. Coolness is always subjective, every person is the arbiter of their own definition of coolness. If you don’t like mine, it would be very cool of you to stick to your own and not worry about what I think.

Are you worried I’m not respecting Star Wars fans enough or something?

For sure, but also stop glorifying bad material. Star wars have 9 main movies and maybe 2 or 3 are good and the shows are hit or miss or have a lot of unnecessary archs just for the sake of extending the playtime (+ disney)

      Marvel: see above

I appreciate they Harry Potter got me into reading but the story is full of plot holes and the author is a TERF

there’s a lot of good material don’t by not problematic authors that deserve more attention

Yep. CinemaSins recently did a review of all the Star Wars movies and pointed out all of the really dumb plot holes. The movie was over 4 hours long
