A vegetable is a culinary term not a scientific one. Fruit is both a scientific term meaning the ripened ovary (calm down people) of a flowering plant that holds seeds and a culinary term as plant parts that are sweet.
Almost all fruits are vegetables.
A fruit is a specific part of a plant (of which the tomato is that part).
A vegetable is any edible part of a plant.
