Don’t worry, it was actually just the cellphone battery indicator. She plugged in at home after the party.

The battery metaphor is because social situations are exhausting, not because they are inherently stressful.
An introvert shouldn’t be sweating on a full or half full social battery, that would be a symptom of anxiety which is something else.
People online often use “introvert” interchangeably with “social anxiety” and “agoraphobia”. Someone will be like “if I have to make a phone call I have a panic attack and vomit lol so introverted right?”
I’d hope that if someone is sociophobic they’re also introverts.
Imagine being an extrovert but afraid of other people. You’d be super screwed.
But you’re right that being an introvert is not a disorder. It’s just needing alone time to recharge.
They are exhausting because they are stressful. As well, most introverts would be assumed to suffer from some sort of social malady such as socially-induced anxiety, which is why they would be introverts in the first place instead of extroverts.
It’s almost like these things are linked and that’s the situation this comic is trying to portray (plus a little punchline at the end for some humor)

No, they are exhausting because there is so much to process mentally and some environments make it difficult to do so. Large gatherings where there is so much to process and think through that it is like working out, but not generally stressful.
Going to a large party where I don’t know anyone is exhausting because I am actively processing my interactions with everyone, thinking through whether certain things are appropriate for this situation before I say them. Again, this isn’t stressful for me, just tiring. The extroverts I know just do things and then change up based on people’s reactions without really thinking about it actively. That is how I act around people I already know, who are not exhausting to hang around for extended periods of time.
I’m not knocking extroverts either, just saying that they are comfortable just acting without overthinking things first which works most of the time. Heck, when I have intentionally not thought about the situation it is not exhausting to talk to someone I just met and gone off their reactions. That took a lot of practice though, and has to be with people I doubt that I will ever see again for it to work. Again, not because it causes stress, but because that is how I process social interactions in a way that takes active effort which is tiring.

This is literally stress inducing. You say it isn’t stressful and then describe being in a stressful situation. It’s literally anxiety that is causing us to overthink these situations, and that is causing stress, which is exhausting.
A long hike or bike ride is tiring without being stressful.
Effort and stress are different things.
Effort and stress are intrinsically linked. High effort activity naturally activate energy consuming processes and negative emotional states like frustration and fatigue.
Effort isn’t stress but effort inherently causes stress on the body.
A long walk or bike ride is stressful on the body. The stress created by physical exertion is what makes you tired.
“Until I die?!”
“No, until the end of the comic. We’re in the last panel, what did you expect?”
“And the pile of corpses?”
“Oh yeah, they’re dead alright.”
Careful, you’ll cut yourself on that edge
feels like a “bad 2-sentence horror story” post

Plot twist: it’s actually their Mob Psycho 100 meter.
if it’s the time that’s left, why is it on the right?
Same difference
Also me when in the office 🙃
